Plain-English version. Crusoe is a data center developer that originated in Bitcoin-flared-gas-to-compute and pivoted into AI-specific hyperscale campuses, most notably the Abilene Texas site that anchors a leg of the Stargate program. Meta is one of the four hyperscalers driving the AI capacity buildout (alongside Microsoft, Google, Amazon). The reported agreement is for ~1.6 GW of capacity — meaningfully larger than any single Stargate site to date — split across two new campuses. The two sites: • Childress, Texas — west-central Texas, near the panhandle. Inside ERCOT (which means the Batch Zero / July 10 LLIS sunset deadline above applies to whatever interconnection request is in flight). Not currently in a moratorium jurisdiction. • Warrenton, Missouri — east-central Missouri, ~60 miles west of St Louis. Inside MISO (which means it is now inside one of yesterday's six FERC Section 206 show-cause proceedings, with the 60-day tariff filing landing right around when this site would be moving through interconnection study). Same state as Amazon's separately-announced June 15 $10 billion Montgomery County site, also east of New Florence. Both Meta and Crusoe declined Bloomberg's request for comment, so the deal is not yet on an official press release surface. The Stargate Abilene structure (BTM gas-pairing, fast-tracked permitting via municipal cooperation, multi-year offtake) is the closest public template for what the two new sites probably look like.

Why it matters
Three things to track. (1) The 1.6 GW split-site structure is the new template for hyperscaler-developer deals — capacity is sourced across two grid regimes simultaneously to hedge any single jurisdictional outcome. Yesterday's FERC fragmentation (six concurrent RTO dockets) makes the two-regime hedge structurally more valuable, because a project that lives entirely in MISO is now exposed to the August 17 MISO tariff filing in a way that a split-site project is not. Expect more two-site announcements over the next quarter. (2) The Texas leg means Crusoe almost certainly has a dynamic generator model in flight against the July 10 deadline — worth watching whether the Batch Zero first-cohort list, when published, shows Childress in it. (3) The Missouri leg means a single utility (Ameren, which serves Warren County) is now lined up to receive infrastructure asks from both Meta-Crusoe at Warrenton and Amazon's $10 billion Montgomery County site within the same window. Ameren's response — capital plan, customer queue order, tariff filings into the MISO show-cause docket — becomes a leading signal for how mid-tier utilities outside PJM and ERCOT handle the new pace.
