Combined-cycle gas plant cost up 66% in two years; build time +23%
BloombergNEF (released Apr 24, covered Apr 27): CCGT capex jumped from <$1,500/kW (2023) to $2,157/kW (2025). Global turbine orders at 110 GW vs 60–70 GW manufacturing capacity at the Big Three. This is the BTM-economics input to every de-rate-calculator number — the headline 'BTM is cheaper than waiting for the grid' arithmetic looks different at 2x capex.
Why it matters
Strengthens the firm-equivalent-MW thesis: the curtailable/PCLR pathway gets relatively cheaper as gas-plant capex inflates. Worth a paragraph in firm-equivalent-mw-underwrite.md and de-rate-calculator-gtm.md.
