The Camden County (GA) Board of Commissioners is set to vote Tuesday May 6 on adopting a 9-month moratorium on data centers. The proposal is driven by speculation that a Florida-based businessman has requested rezoning of land in Kingsland and the county for an industrial park to allow data centers. The Kingsland Planning and Zoning Board meets Monday May 4 at 6 p.m. to hear that rezoning request (agriculture → light industrial with data center allowance) on a tract just east of I-95 and north of GA 40. Kingsland City Manager Lee Spell is recommending the city council adopt a separate 90-day moratorium at its May 11 meeting. Kingsland already passed a data center ordinance in March; the May 11 moratorium would supersede it.

Why it matters
Three nested votes (county, city P&Z, city council) on the same physical site within an 8-day window is a clean test case for the regulatory-knowledge-graph: outcomes can interact (county moratorium passes but P&Z denial moots it; or P&Z approves but city moratorium kicks in 7 days later and freezes the project). For southeastern Georgia specifically, Camden / Kingsland is the closest deepwater-port jurisdiction to Jacksonville's data center cluster and the proposed Nassau County FL development; if both Camden GA and Nassau FL freeze in the same month, the FL/GA coastal corridor effectively closes for new entitlement applications until Q3 2026. Useful to track because it pressure-tests the 'local-vs-state pattern' framing in byog-byong-state-patchwork.md — Georgia's HB 1059 (state-level moratorium) hasn't moved, so the entire enforcement is happening at the county/city tier, exactly the post-Maine pattern.
